John Lennon began his career as a songwriter and singer at the age of 15, forming the band The Quarrymen in 1956, which later became The Beatles in 1960. He released his first single, "Love Me Do," in 1962, reaching number 17 in the British charts. Since then, his songs have been considered hits, composing "protest songs" like "Revolution," introspective songs like "Nowhere Man," "Help," and "Instant Karma," and iconic songs like "All You Need Is Love" and "Imagine," which express his pacifist ideas. He temporarily retired from the music scene in 1975 to raise his young son, Sean, but reemerged in 1980 with a new album, "Wheels go round". In December of that same year, Lennon was shot five times by Mark David Chapman at the age of 40. Lennon is responsible for 25 number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100. His album sales in the United States have reached 14 million units. The album "The Best of John Lennon" features 28 songs written throughout his musical career, from 1962 until his assassination in 1980. Play list DISC ONE A 1. Instant karma 2. Nowhere man 3.
